Jeez Louise.. I have got to be one of the luckiest S.O.B.’s in the world! Why?? Well I just got home from Brian Burns CD release party and Brian has what I consider one of the best voices in the Texas music scene, plus he a hell of a songcraftsman to boot!

The talent there was incredible… Jay Johnson opened, Tom Russell and a hell of a guitar player that I did not catch his name went next, Brian was on and off stage in between and then Larry Joe and John Inmon took over. Bad thing is, my date and good friend Marilynn (My wife hurt her back and sent us on our way) let the Vodka catch up to her and had to get to the house so we missed the rest of the acts. I saw Ed Burleson and Tommy Alverson there (But I think Tommy was on his way out) and a lot of good friends.

That Al and Kay Pratt… man they drive anywhere and any place to be surrounded by good music! Great people too! There was a lot of folks that will be on the cruise we are going on in a few weeks, Larry Joe’s band with John Inmon on guitar, Davin James and Steve Fromholz will all be on board. See what I mean about being lucky?

That’s all for now, I am just so glad t live in Texas!!

At a party last night I got a chance to her a really good musician named Johnny Bush. I had heard about him but never seen him live and folks, watch this kid!

He happens to be Tammy Sue James brother which of course makes him Davin James brother in law, but we won't hold that against him ;-)

He has that old time honky tonk voice reminding me of the era of Jimmy Rogers and Hank Sr.

If you get a chance, pick up his CD and check him out!

Man, I got to go to my good buddy Jeffs surprise 40th birthday last night, what a hoot! I'm not sure what the best parts was, seeing a buch of really good friends I had not seen in a while, the chance to surprise Jeff for his birthday or the band.

What a band it was! Larry joe was fronting and sharing stage with Davin James and special guest on guitar John Inmon! Man can that guy play, so smooth and so fine.

I had'nt relizied that Mark Fishback was no longer with Larry Joe, seems his work got in the way of his play, I hate it when that happens! I'll miss seeing him at the gigs, he and Cheryl are great folks....

Tommorow niight I get to catch Larry and Davin do the duo on stolls at the Texana resturant, can't wait for that either!
