XP Tips and Tricks

I do a lot of different things on the computer.. I remember the day I got my Commodore 64 and sat for hours programing BASIC trying to get a running program, only to download it to the cassette tape (yes, we used cassette tape, there were no harddrives then) and the cassette malfunction.

I joke about "No machine, software or code will ever beat me".. well that's not really true, I give up often but I usually come back to it with a fresh mind and it comes together. Many things I do in minutes now I spent hours upon hours trying to figure out just a few months ago.

My favorite online source for techie stuff is lockergnome.com. I highly recomend subscribing to the newsletters they email for a welath of information that is quick to scan & read. Because of them I found this great host for this site. www.thathostingcompany.com had an offer for gnomies to register a domain and host it woith loads of space and goodies for $99.95. I jumped on it for a few of my domains. You can still get the lifetime deal but it is $199.95 now. ;-(

I use the computer for just about everything, running my business, playing games, correspondence, you name it. I am sure that is not unlike yourself. One of my most recent passions has been leaning graphic programs. The lighthouse in the right corner is the Lydia Ann Channel Light house in Port Aransas Texas. You can read more about it here.

My son took this snap shot from the bow of a bouncing boat, I enhanced it in Photoshop for the results above
I have a new really cool software package I use at work that lets me design jewelry in CAD. The 3D Matrix program is awesome, there are less than 30 users in the U.S. and I am the first in the south. This is the first ring I designed with it, I am having the model milled now. I know you probably just have to have this so click over to my business site and place an order!

I used an old computer to serve as a server and learn Linux on here at home but it is dual bootable to Windows 2000 as well. Although I run W2K at my business running Linux would be a great option as well.

Other techie interests I have are digital video production, Java and Perl scripting, SQL and ASP programing.
