The summer of 1980 was one of the hottest ever in Fort Worth, Texas. For two weeks, temperatures were over 100°F. They topped out at 113°, the all-time record for the area. On the day I shot these pictures of my friends, Lou Cavage, Joel McKown, and their new-wave band, XL, the temperature was 112°. The venue was a former gambling resort turned swimming hole at Lake Worth called Casino Beach.
